artHARARE, in collaboration with Grisebach (Zurich), presents Hunyanzvi (Mastery) - a group exhibition showcasing the work of ten leading Zimbabwean artists: Moffat Takadiwa, Richard Mudariki, Kombo Chapfika, Mostaff Muchawaya, Wallen Mapondera, Gillian Rosselli, Troy Makaza, Dan Halter, Admire Kamudzengerere, and Kudzanai Chiurai.
Fadzai Muchemwa of the National Gallery of Zimbabwe reflects on the exhibition’s conceptual grounding in the Shona phrase 'takachimaster chiround ichi' - a declaration of mastery that fuses the aesthetic, poetic, and political. Hunyanzvi embraces contradiction, ambiguity, and multiplicity as vital tools for navigating the complexities of contemporary life.
This exhibition marks the fifth edition of the Travel-logs series initiated by Michèle Sandoz, head of Grisebach, and will take place during Zurich Art Week 2025, offering a timely platform for dialogue between Zimbabwean contemporary art and the global art community.
